With Spring approaching, the OT’s want to share some fun and creative activities that will work on your child’s visual skills. The visual system allows us to engage and explore the environment around us. With these skills, we are able to move our body around space, scan for objects in a crowded room and understand what is surrounding us.

First, scatter a bunch of colorful beads around the table and have your child sequence them in order of the colors of the rainbow. Together you can measure your child’s wrist, and have your child cut a piece of string to start beading. Your child may need assistance in knotting the end of the string, however, you can have them point to where the knot should be. Now it’s time to bead! Your child can do this at home with siblings or friends, or at the park![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1216″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Together you can pump or blow air into the balloon. Remind your child to hold the bottom of the balloon until you say “ready, set, GO!” On “Go” your child can release the balloon into the air and track where it lands. Before you move onto the next balloon, have your child go find the balloon and bring it back![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
